PW in the QS by Subject ranking

In the latest edition of the QS by Subject ranking, we again took first place in Poland in the Engineering & Technology category. In the Natural Sciences category, we maintained our third position in the country.

Three Polish universities were included in the QS by Subject: Engineering & Technology ranking. Warsaw University of Technology, which was classified in 230th place (up by 7th position), Wrocław University of Technology (in the group of 401-450 places) and the University of Warsaw (in the group of 501-520 places).

The Engineering & Technology category comprises seven specific disciplines. These are: computer science and information systems, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, mining and petrochemical engineering.

Our university is listed in five of them, including four in the first place in Poland:

  • IT and information systems - 2nd place in Poland (251-300 in the world),
  • chemical engineering - 1st place in Poland (251-300 in the world),
  • civil engineering - 1st place in Poland (151-200 in the world),
  • electrical engineering and electronics - 1st place in Poland (201-250 in the world),
  • machine building - 1st place in Poland (201-250 in the world).

In the area of Natural Sciences, the Warsaw University of Technology was ranked 284th in the world. The list includes seven universities from Poland. Two of them ranked higher than the Warsaw University of Technology: the University of Warsaw (178th place) and the Jagiellonian University (250th place).

The Natural Sciences category includes nine disciplines: chemistry, earth sciences and oceanography, environmental sciences, geography, geology, geophysics, materials science, mathematics, and physics and astronomy.

The Warsaw University of Technology is classified in four of them, including one in the first position in Poland:

  • materials science - 1st place in Poland (251-300 in the world),
  • chemistry - 3rd place in Poland (301-350 in the world),
  • mathematics - 3rd place in Poland (301-350 in the world),
  • physics and astronomy - 3rd place in Poland (251-300 in the world).

The QS by Subject ranking belongs to the group of rankings prepared by Quacquarelli Symonds, an international expert in the field of higher education. The main QS (QS World University Rankings) is one of the four most important global education rankings, along with Times Higher Education, Shanghai Ranking and U-Multirank.
