We invite students to cooperate in the CHANCE project

We invite students interested in nuclear physics or experimental data analysis to cooperate in the CHANCE project (https://chance-h2020.eu).

Scope of work: Analysis of experimental data from the detection system for muon tomography.

Muon Scattering Tomography (MST) is a technique that uses cosmic rays to generate three-dimensional images by scattering muons on atoms of a medium. By measuring muon scattering in the tested sample, it is possible to determine its density distribution. Due to the high penetration of muons, MST allows for imaging of objects with a greater thickness and density than X-ray tomography. MST has found application, incl. in detecting smuggling of radioactive materials, geological analyzes (e.g. inside volcanoes) and non-destructive testing of the contents of radioactive waste packages.

We offer:

An interesting project, implemented in cooperation with the University of Bristol and the University of Sheffield
Remuneration in the amount of PLN 1,000-2,000 per month (depending on the degree of commitment and scope of duties)
Possibility of completing thesis (engineering or master's) and preparing a scientific publication.

We need:

Practical programming skills in C ++ or any other modern programming language.
Communicative command of the English language.
