Academic degrees
RULES APPLICABLE TO THE FACULTY OF PHYSICS OF THE WARSAW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY REGARDING DOCTORAL AND HABILITATION PROCEDURES, AND APPLICATION FOR SCIENTIFIC TITLE OF A PROFESSOR
Legal basis:
- The Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University of Technology is authorized to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in exact and natural sciences in physics.
- Resolutions of the Physical Sciences Discipline Council regarding conductors and proceedings are made based on the opinion of the Scientific Policy and Grades Team, whose meetings are usually convened one week before the Council meetings. The schedule of the Council's meetings is available on the Faculty's website.
- Usually, before considering the application for a doctoral dissertation, habilitation procedure, and the procedure for awarding the title of professor, a scientific seminar is organized, at which the person applying for the degree or academic title presents a paper on his / her work.
- A candidate from outside the Faculty applying for a doctoral dissertation, habilitation procedure, or awarding the title of professor is obliged to sign a contract or submit a commitment from the candidate's place of employment to cover the costs of the above-mentioned cord or proceedings.
- The initiation of the doctoral dissertation procedure is made with a clear recommendation that the thesis is prepared for review no later than 3 years after the initiation of the procedure.
- The preferred form of the doctoral dissertation is the dissertation. Reviewers in the doctoral thesis are appointed after the dissertation has been submitted with a positive opinion from the supervisor.
- A supervisor or an auxiliary supervisor appointed in doctoral dissertations may supervise a maximum of 5 candidates.
