Postdoctoral Researcher (Multicomponent thin-film electrochemical systems)

We are a young and active team working on solid electrolytes at the Warsaw University of Technology. Our expertise is focused on the development of novel materials and devices based on polycrystalline materials. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher to work with us on ceramic lithium-ion conductors, especially on the interfaces in the multicomponent thin-film electrochemical systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in research, focusing on the production of polycrystalline thin-film systems using PVD methods, particularly PLD and or thermal evaporation. The ideal candidate will also possess expertise in the characterization of physicochemical properties of thin-film systems, including structural analysis such as GIXRD and Raman spectroscopy, as well as electrochemical properties, including Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, or materials engineering, obtained within the last 7 years.
  • Demonstrated research experience in:
    • PVD methods for producing thin-film systems, with a focus on PLD.
    • Characterization of thin-film systems, covering structural and electrochemical properties.
    • Investigation of material interface processes.
    • Characterization and testing of lithium cells.
  • High motivation for scientific work and the ability to independently solve problems.
  • Experience in conducting independent research related to the application.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Experience in writing scientific publications and grant proposals.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Job Description:

As a Postdoc, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing the technological process using PVD methods.
  • Executing the technological process for producing oxide material layers through the PLD method.
  • Implementing the technological process for producing metallic layers through thermal evaporation.
  • Designing experiments, conducting research, and analysing results of structural and electrical properties.
  • Investigating electrochemical processes occurring in thin-film systems.
  • Preparing periodic reports and materials for scientific publications.
  • Creating scientific publications and grant proposals.

Employment Conditions:

Contract duration: 12+12 months.

Gross salary: PLN 160,000 per annum.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their application, including a CV, a list of publications, and a motivation letter by 29-03-2024. Please send your application to michal.struzik@pw.edu.pl with topic “Postdoc Application”.
