Atomtronics aims at realizing and studying circuits for ultracold atoms, taking advantage of the striking experimental progresses in atom trapping by waveguides and manipulation. In this talk, I will focus on ultracold atoms confined on a ring trap and subjected to an artificial gauge field, induced eg by barrier stirring or by phase imprinting. I will present our theoretical studies of the persistent currents of strongly interacting particles, both bosons, fermions and mixtures. We use a combination of analytical and numerical methods to show that persistent currents can be used to probe the nature of the many-body states at strong interactions, and of their symmetries. Our studies have applications to quantum technologies, and in particular to high-precision atom interferometry.

Uwaga: doktoranci za udział w seminarium mogą zdobyć punkty ECTS.
