Competition for the position of an assistant professor in group research-and-teaching Faculty of Physics

The Vice-Rector for General Affairs announces an open competition for the post Assistant Professor in the Physics of Complex Systems Division at the Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University of Technology, which shall be the primary place of employment as defined by the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478)

Candidates are required to have:

1)      completed higher education with a Master's degree or equivalent;

2)      a PhD degree;

3)      very good command of English and Polish;

4)      scientific profile related to the specialisation of the Division;

5)      laboratory experience with characterization method of low-dimensional materials, in particular: Raman spectroscopy, UV-VIS spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, e-beam lithography;

6)      knowledge relevant to low-dimensional materials (especially 2D materials): solid-state physics, experimental characterization of low-dimensional materials, phonon and thermal properties of low-dimensional materials, application of 2D materials and they heterostructures;

7)      ability to analyze large sets of data with script programming (preferred language python);

8)      experience in leading (as a PI) and participation in scientific grants (at least national level projects);

9)      teaching experience in Polish and English.

 

The person applying for the post should satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2021, section 478) and
in § 118-121 of the Statute of the Warsaw University of Technology.

 

The applicants should submit the following documents:

1)      application form;

2)      CV;

3)      personal questionnaire for an applicant for employment;

4)      copy of the diploma of higher education confirming the award of a Master's degree
or equivalent;

5)      copy of the PhD diploma;

6)      list of research and teaching achievements;

7)      other documents confirming additional qualifications;

8)      statement acknowledging the Warsaw University of Technology as a place of primary employment as defined in the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science;

9)      consent to be included in the number of research staff;

10)  statement authorising the Warsaw University of Technology to demonstrate the employee's achievements;

11)  statement on the field and discipline of science;

12)  statement on the doctoral school;

13)  statement that a candidate:

a)      has full legal capacity,

b)      possesses full public rights,

c)      has not been convicted of an intentional offence or intentional fiscal offence by
a valid court judgment,

d)      has not been punished with the disciplinary penalty referred to in Art. 276 section 1, points 7 and 8 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Acts of 2021, item 478).

 

The above documents should be submitted within the time limit from the date
of announcement July 16, 2021  to August 15, 2021

The results of the competition will be announced by: September 30, 2021

 The Warsaw University of Technology reserves the right to close the competition without selecting a candidate and without giving any reason.

Failure to provide information about the results of the competition is tantamount to the rejection of the application.

Winning the competition is not a guarantee of employment.
